our wedding

Saturday, September 5th, 2026

four in the afternoon
St. Publius Church, Floriana

our love story

It all began on an ordinary day in 2015—move-in day at Fordham University. Matthew had just arrived on campus, ready to start college, and was assigned a dorm room with none other than Brianna’s older brother, Daniel. When Brianna first met Matthew, sparks didn't fly—truth be told, she thought he was kind of a jerk. But life has a funny way of rearranging the pieces.

As the weeks went on, Matthew would tag along with Daniel on visits home. Slowly, those casual visits turned into quiet moments, exchanged glances, and conversations that lingered a little longer than they should have. It felt like a star-crossed lover situation—her brother’s friend, of all people. And yet, beneath all the layers of awkward timing and unsaid words, love began to take root.

Eventually, those subtle looks and sweet nothings blossomed into something real. They became a couple—one that would grow through every stage of life together. Through college and post-grad years, through countless adventures and far-flung travels, and through long nights separated by distance and time zones, Brianna and Matthew held on.

For nearly six years, they made a long-distance relationship work across states, continents, and busy lives. It wasn’t easy—but their friendship, their commitment, and their unwavering belief in each other made it feel effortless. In 2022, on a golden evening in Koh Samui, Thailand, Matthew proposed. And in 2023, they finally moved in together in New York City, putting down roots after years of navigating love across the miles.

What makes their story special isn’t just its longevity, but its soul-deep steadiness. No breaks, no doubts, no detours—just two people who found something rare and never let it go. In a way, they're like high school sweethearts, only better—because they’ve loved each other through everything and come out stronger, sillier, and more in love than ever.

They are true soulmates—best friends who fell in love and never stopped choosing each other. And now, they can’t wait to spend forever together.

General Wedding Information

When should guests arrive to Malta?

We recommend guests arrive on Thursday, September 3rd or Friday, September 4th, as there will be a welcome party on Friday evening.

When and where is the wedding ceremony and reception taking place?

The ceremony will be held at Knisja ta’ San Publiju (St. Publius Church), located just a five-minute walk from The Phoenicia, our hotel and wedding venue. The church’s address is 48 Triq Il-Miratur, Il-Furjana, Malta.

More details to come...

What is the dress code?

The dress code for the wedding reception is Summer Formal. Guests are kindly requested to wear attire that is elegant and seasonally appropriate. For women, this includes floor-length gowns or sophisticated midi dresses. For men, lightweight suits in classic or neutral tones are appropriate; a collared dress shirt is required, and a tie is encouraged. We respectfully ask that guests refrain from wearing casual attire such as shorts, polo shirts, or beachwear, as the occasion calls for a sense of ceremony and sophistication.

The dress code for the Welcome Party is Cocktail Attire. Guests are encouraged to dress in refined, semi-formal evening wear. For women, this includes cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, or elegant separates. For men, a suit or tailored trousers with a dress shirt is appropriate; ties and jackets are welcome but not required. Please avoid casual attire such as jeans, shorts, or sneakers, as the evening will be a celebratory and stylish start to the weekend.

The dress code for the Farewell Brunch is elevated casual. Think relaxed yet polished—perfect for a late morning gathering after the celebration. Sundresses, breezy skirts, or tailored pants with a blouse are ideal for women. For men, opt for chinos or dress shorts paired with a button-down or polo. While the atmosphere will be more laid-back, we encourage guests to look put-together and avoid overly casual items such as gym wear or flip-flops.

More information on attire to come...

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will take place indoors, followed by an outdoor cocktail hour. The reception will be held indoors, with the after party moving back outdoors to enjoy the evening air.

What weather can we expect, and should we plan accordingly?

In early September, Malta typically enjoys warm, sunny weather with clear skies and gentle coastal breezes. Daytime temperatures average between 80–85°F (27–29°C), with slightly cooler evenings around 70–75°F (21–24°C). Rain is uncommon but not impossible. We recommend lightweight, breathable attire for daytime events and a light layer or wrap for the evening.

Are children invited to the wedding?

While we absolutely adore your little ones, we are aiming to keep the event more manageable and ask that only those specifically named on the invitation—including children—attend. We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all our guests.

Can I bring a plus-one or guest?

We kindly ask that only those listed on your invitation attend. Due to logistical planning and guest count limits, we’re unable to accommodate additional guests or plus-ones not specifically invited. Thank you for understanding—we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Schedule & Events

Are there events planned other than the wedding day itself?

The weekend festivities will begin with a Welcome Party on the evening of Friday, September 4th, followed by the wedding celebration on Saturday, September 5th, and a Farewell Brunch on the morning of Sunday, September 6th.

We’ll also be sharing recommendations for local activities, excursions, and things to enjoy during your free time. Information about potential optional group outings will be provided closer to the date. Stay tuned!

Travel & Accomodations

What is the best way to travel to Valletta, Malta?

The most convenient way to reach Valletta is by flying into Malta International Airport (MLA), the island’s only airport. It serves numerous direct flights from major European cities and connects easily through hubs like London, Rome, Paris, and Frankfurt.

From the airport, Valletta is approximately a 15–20 minute drive by taxi or car service. We recommend arranging transportation in advance or using a licensed airport taxi or ride-hailing service upon arrival.

More detailed travel tips, including transfer options and local recommendations, will be shared closer to the date.

Which airport should guests fly into?

Malta International Airport (MLA), which serves numerous direct flights from major European cities and connects easily through hubs like London, Rome, Paris, and Frankfurt.

Are there hotel blocks or recommended hotels with special rates available?

Yes, we have secured a room block at The Phoenicia Malta, where the wedding events will take place, as well as an additional nearby hotel for alternative accommodations. More details, including booking links and rates, will be shared soon.

Is transportation provided between hotels and wedding events?

All wedding events are within walking distance of one another in Valletta. However, we are exploring transportation options for guests who may require assistance. More information will be provided closer to the date.

What transportation options are available from the airport to hotels?

Malta International Airport (MLA) is approximately 15–20 minutes by car from Valletta and The Phoenicia Malta. Transportation options include:

Taxi: Licensed airport taxis are readily available outside the arrivals terminal. A one-way trip to Valletta typically costs around €20–€25.

Rideshare: Apps like Bolt and eCabs operate throughout Malta and are often slightly cheaper than taxis.

Private Transfers: The Phoenicia offers pre-arranged car service for guests—please contact the hotel directly for availability and pricing.

Car Rental: Available at the airport, but not recommended unless you plan to explore the island extensively, as parking in Valletta is limited.

Should I rent a Car?

For the wedding weekend, renting a car is not necessary and generally not recommended—especially if you're staying in Valletta or at The Phoenicia. The city is compact, walkable, and much of it is pedestrian-only or restricted to local traffic. Parking is limited and can be difficult to navigate.

Taxis, rideshare apps like Bolt and eCabs, and hotel-arranged transfers are convenient and reliable for getting around. If you plan to explore other parts of Malta before or after the wedding—such as Gozo, Mdina, or the Blue Grotto—a rental car might be worth considering for those days. Otherwise, you'll be better off without one.

Is there parking available on site at the Phoenicia Hotel?

Yes, The Phoenicia Malta offers on-site parking for guests, including a private underground car park. Valet service is also available. However, parking is limited and may be prioritized for hotel guests with reservations.

If you plan to drive, we recommend contacting the hotel in advance to confirm availability and any applicable fees.

Do I need a visa or special documentation to travel to Malta?

Likely not. Visa requirements for Malta depend on your nationality.

U.S., U.K., EU, Canadian, and Australian passport holders do not need a visa for short stays (up to 90 days) for tourism purposes.

Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure date from Malta.

If you're traveling from a country that requires a Schengen visa, Malta is part of the Schengen Area, and standard Schengen visa rules apply.

If you truly are not sure, we recommend checking with your country’s official travel website or the Embassy of Malta to confirm current entry requirements based on your citizenship and travel dates.

Attire & Practical Details

What is the dresscode for each event?

Welcome Party (Friday, September 4th): Cocktail Attire
Think festive and polished—cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, or suits without ties are perfect for the evening.

Wedding Ceremony & Reception (Saturday, September 5th): Summer Formal
Elegant attire with a warm-weather sensibility. Floor-length gowns or sophisticated midi dresses for women; suits in light or classic tones for men. Ties are encouraged but optional.

Farewell Brunch (Sunday, September 6th): Elevated Casual
Relaxed but refined—sundresses, breezy skirts, or tailored separates for women; chinos, dress shorts, or polos for men. Leave gym wear and flip-flops behind.

What type of footwear is appropriate for the venues?

Most events will take place indoors or on solid, even ground. However, there are a few portions of the weekend where comfortable, walkable footwear is recommended:

There is a five-minute walk between the ceremony and reception, which may include cobblestone streets.

The Welcome Party is also within walking distance, but the route may involve hilly streets or uneven surfaces.

We suggest wearing formal shoes that are practical for walking, such as block heels, wedges, or elegant flats for women, and dress shoes with good support for men. Stilettos and delicate soles are best reserved for venues rather than the walk between them.

Are there any local cultural considerations or customs we should be aware of?

Malta is a predominantly Catholic country with a rich cultural heritage and strong traditions. While locals are welcoming and accustomed to visitors, here are a few considerations to keep in mind:

Church Etiquette: The wedding ceremony will take place in a church, so respectful attire is expected. Shoulders should be covered during the ceremony, and hemlines should be modest. A shawl or wrap is a simple solution if your outfit is more revealing.

Punctuality: While Mediterranean culture is relaxed in many ways, formal events like weddings are taken seriously. Arriving on time is appreciated and considered respectful.

Public Behavior: Maltese people are warm and friendly, but public displays of excessive drunkenness or disorderly conduct—especially near religious or historic sites—are generally frowned upon.

Tipping: Service charges are often included, but rounding up or leaving 5–10% for good service in restaurants and taxis is appreciated.

Overall, showing courtesy, dressing appropriately in sacred spaces, and being mindful of your surroundings will go a long way.

Should guests bring anything specific (e.g., sunblock, sunglasses, wraps for cooler evenings)?

Yes—while Malta in early September is beautifully warm and sunny, a few practical items will help ensure you're comfortable throughout the weekend:

Sunglasses and Sunblock: Days can be bright and UV levels high, especially during outdoor portions of events.

Wrap or Light Jacket: Evenings can cool off slightly, particularly near the water, so a light layer is recommended.

Comfortable Dress Shoes: For short walks over cobblestones and uneven streets, choose footwear that balances style with stability.

Swimwear: If you plan to enjoy the pool at The Phoenicia or explore Malta’s beaches, don’t forget a swimsuit.

Adapters/Converters: Malta uses Type G electrical sockets (same as the U.K.), so guests traveling from outside Europe should bring the appropriate plug adapter.

We’ll also be sharing a packing guide closer to the date to help you prepare with ease.

Food & Drinks

What kind of food will be served?

Guests can expect a refined culinary experience featuring a mix of Mediterranean and international cuisines throughout the weekend. The wedding will include a combination of passed hors d'oeuvres, curated food stations, and a seated dinner highlighting high-end ingredients and local flavors.

Expect a blend of Maltese and Italian dishes, along with other European influences—think fresh seafood, seasonal produce, artisanal pastas, and elegant desserts. Dietary preferences will be accommodated where possible, and more details will be provided closer to the event. Come hungry!

Will there be vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or allergy-friendly meal options available?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary restrictions or allergies with advance notice.

Please be sure to indicate any dietary needs when you RSVP, or feel free to reach out to us privately before the wedding. We want all our guests to feel cared for and enjoy the celebration comfortably.
